Although XFINITY Mobile officially launched online in May, the exciting new mobile service is now making its way to XFINITY retail stores, starting off first with Chicago area locations.
Put simply, XFINITY Mobile is a new wireless service designed to deliver a better and faster experience for less money, while still utilizing the most popular mobile devices in the market. This mobile service is the latest offering from XFINITY which also includes services like internet, TV, and home security.
XFINITY’s move into the mobile world is a big deal, and was celebrated as such during an XFINITY Mobile Launch at Chicago’s XFINITY Store in Lincoln Park. To showcase just all that the new technology can do, comedian/musician/vocal artist, Reggie Watts, made an appearance and used the service to broadcast a live standup.
“I don’t want to get into nano tech or quantum physics, because I don’t know them, but they are a part of [the technology],” Watts said while performing a separate standup at the XFINITY store for the weekend launch event.
Watts performed to guests who attended the event after a free meet and greet session with fans beforehand. His performance utilized his famous beat boxing skills while making Windy City references.
“Welcome to one of the mobiliest versions of XFINITY possible,” Watts said. “XFINITY mobile gives you the ability to take the entire company in your pocket.”
The comedian later took his act to Giddings Plaza in the Lincoln Square neighborhood where he performed a 45 minute “Selfie Standup” through Facebook Live, using XFINITY Mobile to connect to fans virtually. Without losing any Wi-Fi signal during his entire set, Watts had over 280,000 views on the live video, where he stopped to talk to every day Chicagoans on the street and shopped inside local grocery stores.
The launch of XFINITY Mobile in retail stores is exciting because now more people can access the brand new mobile service concept. According to Kristie Fox, the Vice President of Communications for XFINITY Mobile, the service leverages the fastest LTE network along with the 17 million other XFINITY Wi-Fi hotspots for a truly unique mobile experience.
“The digital experience has been built from the ground up and prioritizes customer experience,” Fox said. “There has been a strong response so far, as we are taking a different approach from other carriers.”
The mobile service will roll out in the rest of the XFINITY Stores across the country by the end of the year. Fox said the goal is for XFINITY customers to receive one bill that contains their cable, internet, XFINITY Home, and XFINITY Mobile service to streamline the payments to make an all-encompassing XFINITY experience.
Until then, to check out one of the “mobiliest versions of XFINITY possible” you can visit Chicagoland XFINITY stores to see the next generation of the wireless experience.
